The Acting Lab for Language Development
July 30 - August 3, 2012One week class Monday - Friday 5:15 - 7:15pm
Led by Marianne Ryan, Professional Actor and Founding Director of Discover Music and Art and Corrina Riggs, MS CCC-SLP, licensed speech-language pathologist.
In this acting and performance class, young people explore the exciting world of theatre, while advancing their speech and language learning goals. Students immerse themselves in the craft of acting and develop their own creative voices in a supportive language-enhanced environment.
Over the course of the class, the children will write their own scripted play, which will develop organization of thought, undertanding of story structure, vocabulary and memorization skills. Integrated art projects become parts of their sets or are used as props and/or costume pieces for the final performance.
The Acting Lab for Language Development is a wonderful opportunity for children to develop poise, movement, speaking, and acting skills as they explore improvisation, theatre games, character development and the many skills of professional actors. Expanding their creativity and empowering their own unique voice!
Performance will be held on Friday at 6:30 pm Location TBD
